Frequently asked questions
Everything you need to know before you start.
- What is dotcarrierstatus.com?
- dotcarrierstatus.com is a subscription service that monitors FMCSA motor carrier status for you. You enter USDOT or MC numbers and we check their operating status daily via the FMCSA API, sending you an email alert whenever a status changes.
- Where does the carrier data come from?
- All data comes directly from the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) via their official public API. We do not modify or interpret the data — we show you exactly what FMCSA reports.
- How often is carrier status checked?
- Status is checked once per day, every day, automatically. You can also trigger a manual refresh on any individual carrier from its detail page at any time.
- What kinds of status changes will I be alerted about?
- Any change to the FMCSA operating status field — such as going from Authorized to Out-of-Service, Revoked, Not Authorized, or any other change the FMCSA records.
- How many carriers can I track?
- Each subscription can track up to 100 carriers.
- How much does it cost?
- $24.99 per month. There are no extra fees, no per-carrier charges, and no usage limits within the 100-carrier cap.
- Is there a free trial?
- Yes. New accounts start with a 7-day free trial with full access. No credit card is required to start.
- Can my team use it?
- Yes. You can invite team members to your account. Everyone on the team shares the same carrier list and receives alerts.
- Can I look up a carrier without signing up?
- Yes. Use the free lookup tool on the Demo page to check any carrier's current FMCSA status without an account.
- How do I cancel?
- Open the Billing page from your account and use the Stripe customer portal to cancel at any time. No long-term contracts.
